once again it's that time of the year

Foreword, March 2010

sugatha menonTalking about women power and the strength of a woman has become a cliché, and there is no one rejoicing in this more than the women themselves! It means it is becoming more and more commonplace! And today it"s not about equaling men, the gender doesn"t matter, it"s just about proving your mettle. As a wag once said, women who strive to be equal to men lack ambition! So here we go, into this sassy issue of March, our Women"s Day special!

Our cover story is about the entrepreneurs of the South, women who"ve gone against all odds and emerged winners read owners! Women who with their innate intuitiveness, sincerity and zest for perfection are today sitting at the top, but not resting on their laurels, as all of them have set for themselves more and more milestones! Truly heartening and wonderfully reassuring!

We bring you an inspiring interview with the spirited Arundhati Nag, whose mantra ?When there is no looking back, you go forward" sums up pretty much the mood of the month! An inspirational story with all the wonderful colours of her trials and triumphs woven in to make her life a rich tapestry of lessons for all of us!

After all the hard work, one has to relax and put up one"s feet. Precisely for this, team Jade went on a hunt and came back with addresses of exclusive women"s clubs of the south, but it"s not just fun and games there ...turn the pages and find out more.

The south has for long been regarded as a matriarchal domain, our essay The Autumn of the Matriarch reviews this standing and comes up with a refreshing point of view. You beg to differ? Write to us, we would love to hear your views and a good debate is welcome!

This month"s Jade is a delight for all, even for those who love their drinks and hate hitting the gym! Confused? Well, we have an intoxicating array of cocktail recipes reproduced from a book written by a cocktail expert and we have a long list of activities you could indulge in to tone up that waist by staying home. No we don"t mean the jiggling belts or what"s-that-thing-telemarketers-sell, we are talking about good old chores like dusting

and cleaning!

To give you many more ways to indulge in the good life, we"ve deviated from the usual His and Her"s to just Her"s in honour of the special day of this month. So go ahead, celebrate being a woman! As for men, celebrate the women in your lives.
