SUMUKHA, BENGALURU

Bengaluru's Gallery Sumukha is having an art exhibition curated by Berlin and London based renowned writer and curator Shaheen Merali. Shaheen has been the Head of Exhibitions, Film and New Media at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, curating several exhibitions including The Black Atlantic; Dreams and Trauma ? Moving images and the Promised Lands; and Re-Imagining Asia, One Thousand years of Separation. In 2006, he was the co-curator of the 6th Gwangju Biennale, Korea. Called Cinema Verite Redux, his art exhibition in Bengaluru will showcase works by seven national and international artists. There are video installations by Vancouver based-artist Marina Roy and Berlin based photographer and video artist Charly Nijensohn, oil on wood portraits by Vancouver based artist Attila Richard Lucas; Inkjet prints by Prasad Raghavan; cut-out paintings on canvas stretched on wood by Delhi based graphic designer Subba Ghosh; photography by Bengaluru based artist Ravikumar Kashi; black and white drawings by Chennai based artist Parvathi Nayar. The title, Cinema Verite Redux, proposes a familiarity of intent with a type of cinema and documentary style which has evolved and is recognised as cinema verite. Calvin Klein has introduced ?Whitewashed? an extension of the line for Spring 2010. A range of white denims, Whitewashed features a more contoured, shape enhancing fit in clean, translucent washes and enriched surface treatments in pure and coated shades of white. Each piece is lighter and engineered with accents that include white, enamelled nickel metal buttons, zippers, and rivets. The season focuses on straight leg for men, and a classic skinny cut with ankle zips or a loose boyfriend cut for women.

ALL NEW MENU AT MONSOON (THE PARK), BENGALURU

Monsoon, the 24-hour restaurant at boutique hotel The Park Bengaluru, has launched a brand new menu. And this time the desi tadka with international food. The menu created by Executive Chef, Rajiv Vimal and his team makes for a delectable treat with a showcase of Pan Indian, international food and a special section dedicated to innovative sandwiches. There are popular classics like shrimp cocktail and Caeser salad, chimeen moily (Kerala style prawn curry cooked in coconut milk and spices). All-time favourites like murgh makhanwala, lagan ki masala machchi, and twin crab cake, shrimp scampi tomato, are some of the new items. The kebab platter is an elaborate list that includes tandoori prawns, reshmi kebab, rawa meen fry, makai malai seekh and hariyali paneer tikka. The dessert section gets a makeover too with the New York cheesecake, gulab phirni, elneer payasam and home made gelatos and sorbets besides the signature warm chocolate mud cake.
